We have extended our asphalt paver spare parts range with two screed heating products built around the 2055043 and 2055045 heating rods: a matched rod set for the AB340TV screed, and a complete ironing board heater assembly for the AB340-3TV screed. Both are aimed at the same repair window, the moment a screed plate stops reaching working temperature and the paving crew loses the first hour of the shift.

A cold screed plate does not only slow the start of paving. It drags on the mat, leaves a rough surface behind the tamper bar and forces the operator to run the machine faster than the mix allows. In most cases the cause is a single burnt-out rod, and fitting the whole set at once is cheaper than coming back for the second and third rod a few shifts later.

• Matched rod set for AB340TV. The 2055043 and 2055045 rods are supplied from the same production batch, so heat output stays even along the plate and the joint does not open up on one side.
• Ironing board heater assembly for AB340-3TV. A bench rebuild kit with rods, new ceramic end caps and terminal leads, intended for workshops that rebuild the screed off the machine and test it before refitting.

• Stainless tube with ceramic insulation. Tamper vibration does not crack the insulation, which is the usual cause of earth leakage on screed heaters.
• Original plug-in terminal. The connector matches the factory loom, so no cable is cut on site and the wiring check stays simple.
• 1.1 kg per rod. Same weight and bend radius as the original part, so the retaining clamps and heat shield keep their position.
• Resistance matched sets. Rods in a set are matched within 3 percent, giving a uniform plate temperature and a cleaner mat edge.
• Tested before dispatch. Insulation resistance and cold resistance are measured rod by rod, and the test record ships with the order.

Four symptoms point to the heating rods rather than the controller: the plate takes more than twenty minutes to reach working temperature, one section stays visibly cooler than the rest, the machine breaker trips as soon as the screed heater is switched on, or the resistance reading is open circuit. Measure each rod cold and compare the value with the machine manual before ordering, and check that the rod channels are free of hardened bitumen before the new rods go in.
